A merry Christmas
Saturday 10 December 2011 • 7.30 pm
Join Cambridge Chorale as they return to the wonderful setting of St Vigor’s Church, Fulbourn, for a joyful celebration of seasonal choral music. Expect festive treats a-plenty, from well-known favourites such as Peter Cornelius’ The three kings, Harold Darke’s In the bleak mid-winter, Herbert Howells’ A spotless rose and John Rutter’s Shepherd’s pipe carol, to fun new arrangements, including Bob Chilcott’s exuberant setting of The twelve days of Christmas, where the ‘five gold rings’ refrain appears in an array of different musical guises…
The Christmas story is told through excerpts taken from George Frideric Handel’s epic Messiah, and an international flavour is added as we explore carols from around the world, including the Dominican Republic, Korea, South Africa, Nigeria, Latvia and Russia. There will also be opportunities to dust off your voices with a generous helping of favourite carols for all to sing.
What a great way to wish everyone a merry Christmas!
